BRINGING INTEGRITY, ACCOUNTABILITY, TRANSPARENCY, AND TRUST BACK TO BROOKSHIRE
"Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one else is watching." - C.S. Lewis
The England family has been a part of the Brookshire, Texas community for more than 80 years,
playing a major role in agriculture and education. After years of stagnant growth, it's
time for a changeā¦a change with a purpose. Brookshire desperately needs to prepare for
the rapid growth that is coming. It's time to examine old systems, create new ideas,
and develop plans to revitalize and expand the city of Brookshire. Since I am semi-retired,
I can commit full time to serving as Mayor. Your support is greatly appreciated.
To all who are following the current election information for
Mayor the City of Brookshire - messages from Arnold:
Personal message of April 6th:
"On April 4, 2019, the City Attorney for Brookshire, Art Pertile, presented to
the City Council a document known as Ordinance No. 4, dated 8/16/1946. He
explained that ordinance No. 4 had excluded an area on the west side of town.
This is the same area that the current mayor had taken into the city in 2017.
Unfortunately, the ordinance had never been recorded in the public records. He
recommended that the ordinance be recorded and that the area taken in 2017
be released again.
We are one of the families affected by this action. Once the ordinance is
recorded, I will again live outside the city limits and will no longer be
eligible to serve as mayor of Brookshire.
Regretfully, I must announce that I will terminate my campaign for mayor of
Brookshire as soon as I am presented proof that Ordinance No. 4 has been filed
with the County Clerk's office.
I sincerely appreciate the incredible support that many of you have offered.
I believe that together we could have made a real difference in Brookshire's
future.
Best wishes to all of the citizens of Brookshire."
Personal message of April 10th:
"Hello again, Brookshire voters!
My campaign is now officially over. I received confirmation today that the
'recently discovered' 1946 Ordinance No. 4 has been filed and recorded in the
county records. This means that NOW, I am no longer a Brookshire resident.
NOW, I am no longer eligible to serve as mayor of Brookshire.
I understand the concern my banners and signs have caused. I hope you can
understand my reason for caution and the demand that legal action be taken.
After all, look at how all of this came about in the first place. My purpose
in running for office was to win, and serve the people of Brookshire in a
way that would allow positive growth to this city. It was not, as some have
implied, to split the vote. NEVER have I stated that I would remain in the
election regardless of the information finally shared with council members.
NEVER have I stated I would petition for the election to stand should I be
elected. I do stand by my previous online statement that I would terminate
my candidacy as soon as the city of Brookshire fulfilled its duty to file
the above mentioned ordinance to be officially recorded. That is effective
NOW.
While there is nothing I can do to remove my name from the ballot, I am
urging all voters to choose one the remaining mayoral candidates -DO
NOT WASTE YOUR VOTE ON ME. Brookshire needs and deserves new leadership if
there is to be any chance for change. Brookshire does not need more of
the same.
Once again I want to thank my supporters who know who I am and what I
represent. It was not hard for you to see through the smokescreen created by
some who cannot tolerate honesty and integrity and want only to advance
their own agenda, regardless of the truth.
In conclusion, I would like to endorse Tony Marchant for City Council
Alderman. He has the background, work ethic, desire, and determination that
is needed to help Brookshire grow.
Again, my best wishes to all the citizens of Brookshire.
